British Residency: Colonial Splendour

One of the architectural splendors of the British in Hyderabad is called British Residency. This was built for the resident James Kirkpatrick to show the power and wealth of the British during the Nizam era.  This is a one of the Neo- Classical buildings situated on the bank of River Musi near Koti. Now it houses the Osmania Women’s college.   This trail will focus on the love story of James Kirkpatrick with a local Muslim girl KhairUnNissa Begum.  Will also talk about the role of British residency during the revolt of 1857 in Hyderabad.

Meet your heritage explorer or heritage walk director in the starting point of the tour. Your heritage walk director will be wearing TIMELES T-shirt and cap. The heritage walk director will explain to you about the architectural beauty, anecdotes of British residents and his wife's love story .
