 One of the most magnificent fortresses in India, the Fort of Golconda majestically stands amidst the natural rocks in the south-western parts of the Hyderabad city. It was originally known as Mankal and was built in 1143 on a hilltop. The term Golconda is derived from the Telugu words Golla and Konda which means Shepherd’s Hill.
